I just “finished” installing a show of my landscape photography at the Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce in Amherst, MA.
I put “finished” in quotation marks because I hung the photos, but expect to be back for a second look at their arrangement, and may yet move things around. I also have a lot of work to do on labeling and leveling and creating informational pages before the official opening on Thursday, March 7th as part of the monthly Amherst Art Walk.
I’m thrilled to be part of this event, as it puts a slice of my work in front of a whole new (and larger) set of hearts and eyeballs.
Here’s how the layout looked when I left it tonight, subject to minor changes before Thursday:
I’d be pleased to see any of you who are “local” at this event, and urge you to stop by as you wander about town (there are several nice Actual Galleries in the immediate vicinity, so you’ll get to see a lot without walking a lot.)
Stop by if you’re so inclined!
We’ll be there in spirit! I’m so glad you’re getting this exposure,
What Bob said. So exciting! π
Thanks, Cuz and Vikki!
This is so cool. How long will your work be in the gallery? I’d like to get to see your photos.
Eileen, please do drop in! My opening will coincide with the March Amherst Art Walk on Thursday the 7th, 5-8pm. The work will stay up through the month of March, so if you can’t make the opening, stop by when you can! π
Many congratulations on this your first public show. I wish you great (and well deserved) success.
Thanks, Susan. Not my first, but by far my highest profile showing, and the first with an official “opening” coordinated with a larger event, which I hope will deliver a good turnout, possibly even some sales.
Being an “artist” is spiritually fulfilling, but the “starving” part is somewhat less so! π
I’m so proud of you my buttons just burst. Gah, there goes another one!
Regards,
Tengrain
Ten, thanks for the support.
Just got back from the opening, and despite being disappointed at not selling even one piece, I was heartened by the many rave comments about my show, including some by better-established photographers whose work I look up to, and gallery owners who urged me to submit work to their juries.
“Half-way to ‘rich and famous,'” as I’m prone to saying – now show me the money!!!
