The Cunning Runt
Some folks say I’m a contrarian, but I disagree. I’m just a guy with strongly held opinions and an inclination to express myself. I live in the hills of Western Massachusetts with my two lovely daughters and spend as much time outdoors as possible. I love music, food and women, I don’t watch television and I don’t own a suit.
Duude! Imagine my surprise when I scrolled down the responses to today’s QotD at Shakesville (the new and improved) and saw that your handle was UNDERLINED! Welcome to the blogosphere!
Hey Runt
love the blog, and the spirit. Saw this today and thought you’d know what to do with it:

Thanks Miz Lu, that was exactly what I needed to break this inertia – a bit of hope!
I’m snagging that link for the blog, if you don’t mind. It says well what I’ve been harping about for the last couple of years: We need to stop OTHERING each other!
“I love music, food and women, I don’t watch television and I don’t own a suit.”
can disagree with ya there…….an old troll from SS
Welcome Jasper. I’m about the dialog – let’s talk. But this isn’t a forum for fighting.
See you around the place, man.
geeezzz, i didn’t even know to click on this til now. i’m not real spiffy on computer things. : )
The one place I didn’t look, of course….
I always enjoy visiting here, even though I don’t comment often. I’m pretty sure we are in the same tribe. Glad you are here.
Y’all are making me blush, or tumescent or something! Welcome to my Secret Place! I may start posting million dollar jackpots here to get you to come back. (Shhhhhh… it’s our little secret!)
Sorry awife, I’m somewhat e-tarded and am struggling with your request. But I’ll be secretly thrilled with the insider knowledge!
Hey, Bro!
I have a request fer ye. Would it be possible for you to put tags (categorize, label by topic, wev) your posts? I was pointing a friend (and my new fellow poster at the renamed “Phydeaux and Phriends”) to a couple of your “othering” posts, and I had to hunt forever – okay, for longer than I thought.
I know ye’re e-tarded and all, but ’tain’t hard to do.
Mwah! 😈
I’ve only been blogging for a week, and don’t know much about this high tech stuff with it’s built in obsolescence. Seems like all our eggs in one basket, but the only voice left for the financially challenged.
I’ve been circulating a question; “In a class oriented society such as ours,
how can we hope to over come prejudice and segregation when class by definition is segregating?”
Phy sent me. We share first names. Check out my blog; say what?
You’re words ring
mr. linguist
Can I do an experiment here? If it works you will see a pic from my county. If not, I’ve sullied your “about” page.
Dang. Sorry, CR.
‘Girl, what did you try? I can insert links in other peeps’ comment threads, but were you trying to post an actual picture here?
I’d be thrilled if you figure that one out, though I can imagine many reasons why it’s not likely possible, and possibly not even desirable – can you imagine where trouble-makers might take that concept?
Anyway, keep trying, but explain a little more so I can think about it too. And don’t worry about “sullying” my ces-pool; I can always edit out anything which goes awry 😉
You are totally right about the potential for trouble with that one, so I put together a quick photo album which you can now link to!
While putting it together yesterday I was amazed at how few pictures I had of my own “backyard.” I get much busier with the camera when I am on vacation, and the rest of the shots are mostly people.
I may put together a “real” site or maybe a blog sometime.
beatgrl, great photographs! The Northwest is too beautiful!
Thanks, I wanted to make contact. I, too, love women! BTW, Blue Gal is the Greatest!
Hey Corkus !
Tried my best to start a blog of my own .
Tell me if it worked.
Nice chatting today……………….Hi Ho Fluffy AWAY!
gg58, Your name doesn’t show up as a link in this comment, so it’s not working that way. But that doesn’t mean your blog isn’t up, just that your comment didn’t properly link to it.
Can you e-mail me the link or post it here as text?
thank you for coming to my blog so that i had a chance to see your blog!
i never put you and Cunning Runt together.
i am a slow learner sometimes.
Dude,
Love the cat suit !
Hey , when do I get to be on the blogroll ?
Someday I’m gonna write something intelligent and nobody’s going to get to read it !
Shawn, the 70s took their toll, and I’m really bad at the simple shit!
Thanks for the nudge, expect it soon.
But as Adrian Belew said, “Don’t hold your breath; it’ll make you blue…” – Oh Daddy!
Just found you off of FranIam’s blog. Interesting site, I love it.
Why, thank ye!
Consider sending a photo for the next edition of Friday Peace Blogging at my place.
A photo featuring a smiling you giving us the Peace Sign is all you need to send.
Thanks.

note: i am a careful walker as i have myatonic dystrophy and have to watch balance which i do with aid of a sturdy walking stick.
thanks for your help.

I thought the leaves were coated in sugar candy. The frost makes the leaves look like a sort of gummi candy. I see a confectionary treat in the field…
I’m here at the advice of the Mad Priest. I love music, food and men; I watch some television and I own a suit. Regardless, I hope I will be welcome, especially since I want to keep an eye on your photographs.
Peace
KJ, welcome, even with a suit. 😉
I’ve moved heavily toward photography since I wrote this profile, not because I care less about politics and society, but more because I see the whole mess as so interconnected that I can’t divine where to begin or end my rants.
While I’m sussing that out, I’ll continue to post my attempts at capturing the world around me to share with others.
Peruse LBT at your leisure, and I hope you find images of interest and writings (albeit dated) worth reading.
And send me a link if you have a place where I can read what you’re thinking!
guess what? I’m going to Kingman Arizona to climb with Layton Kor in March!
Hey Cuz! Congrats on the link from Crooks & Liars! (Mike’s Blog Round-up)
That’s amazing – I didn’t know! Thanks for the Heads-Up! 🙂
Hi! I was working on a redo of my blog yesterday, and found your awesome photo of the Potholes. I’d really like to use it for my header, with your permission & photo credit. I’ve got it up right now, so you can see how I mean to use it, but if you’d rather not, I’ll take it down.
Sorry to muck up your comments with this, but I couldn’t find another way to contact you.
Thank you!
Marie, glad you like that photo! Sure, use it as you like, and thanks for offering the attribution. 🙂

Hi lbt, I wanted to let you know I have started a blog, http://haikusandpics.wordpress.com/ . It’s a simple site. The photos are from a nikon point and shoot. These are not like your photos, you are doing real photography. I just bought a Canon with two lenses and am looking forward to what the pictures will look like. I used to do darkroom work, but it’s been years since I did that. I will put a link to your site on my website. I’m still putting it together. I love your work, you put a lot of effort to explain what you are photographing and the technical details.
Eileen, welcome to the ‘Sphere! I’m sure your photos will be worthwhile. A DSLR is really all you need, though us “Boys and our Toys” might seem more glamorous from the outside.
I’ll continue to try to explain what I’m doing, on the off-hand hope that it will help others who are learning along with me.
I’m looking forward to seeing what you’re up to, and what’s around you as well. 🙂
While I am sure I’m not the first or the last, I wanted to let you know that I recognized your blog in the “Reader Appreciation Awards”. I’ve really enjoyed your writing, pictures, and and perspective. Thank you!
http://guypenn.com/2012/06/13/reader-appreciation-awards/
Guy, thank you SO MUCH! If I’ve been so honored before, I think I missed it and, sadly, the opportunity to express my gratitude. So to you I’ll say, THANK YOU!!! 🙂
Hi, I’ve been an on-again/off-again visitor to your blog and your photos and your kindness and your positivity always blow me away.
I’ve got an usual question for you. I met a woman from the Berkshire Valley region at Kripalu last week at a juice fast. Unlike most of the students in the class she is local to Kripalu and she’s looking to make friends in the area. She’s in her late 40’s. She works at a school for the deaf, and mostly with young kids. She’s a bit isolated and would like to make friends in the region, and I’m doing what I can (at a distance) to help her get connected with local women and men approximately her age. I know you love the Berkshires and thought you might have some suggestions.
Love your photos!
~Rachael
Rachael, it’s so considerate of you to want to help like this. Thank you for being that person!
I’m a strong hour away from Kripalu, and sadly, I’ve tangled my time in such knots that most of my long-time friends wonder if I’ve died!
Here’s what I can think of off hand to help your new friend make connections:
There’s a Community Center in Great Barrington where lots of people go regularly, with very reasonably priced gym and pool facilities, and I believe activities which might allow her to meet health-conscious others.
There’s the Arcadian shop in Lenox, on Route 7, a great (albeit pricey) outdoor shop with an extensive bike shop, and I’ll bet they have fliers up for walks and talks and rides, everything from recreational bike tours to bird-watching.
And there’s the Berkshire Arboretum in Stockbridge, a lovely place to meet people who are into plants and gardening, etc.
It’s hard to go far beyond these recommendation without knowing what your friend is interested in; I’m already assuming a bent toward health and nature, which the Kripalu connection suggests.
Good luck to her (and you!) and thanks for your kind words about my blogging efforts. 🙂
thanks for your time & lengthy response. I do appreciate it.
Like dirty underwear, your Marxism was unpleasantly displayed in
the whing comment about “filthy rich” people “owning” the shoreline next to Rafe’s Chasm in Magnolia. What’s next- Occupy Magnolia?
Kevin, welcome to LBT. I’d be more than happy to see an “Occupy The Coast” movement, but don’t consider it a priority.
And I don’t “display” my dirty underwear, I WASH IT.
Thanks for commenting.
Your photography is the bomb!! You’ve not posted since Spring of 2013. Miss you. -Rachael Hubbard, formerly of the Happy Valley, Marlton, NJ
Rachael, I’m active on Facebook now as Ralph Munn. Come visit!
Stephen: I am interested in your Letters in the Mail subscription. I am a high faculty English teacher, and i imagined this might be a very good way to acquire my students to write responding to your letters. Nonetheless, I’ve to be certain that the topics in the letters is going to be appropriate for my students 9, 10, and 11th graders. Will you please comment on what the topics is going to be in general? Thank you.
Theo, who is “Stephen?”
This blog has been inactive for a few years, and has NEVER been censored to be “appropriate” for any particular audience. I use plenty of profanity to express my true feelings about current topics.
If you’re looking for honest passion and, sometimes, rage, my past writings are here. If you’re looking for something which nobody could find offensive, this blog might not be it.
Hello, great photos of the hawley bog!! I am doing a blog post on the mohawk trail and would like to include some hawley bog pics and all my mine stink! Would you be open to me using 3 of yours? if not, i understand. all the best 🙂
