Well, something special for the Old Man, something I never did before, spurred be the reminder that, sheesh, I don’t have forever to try everything!
So, for my first dance with filo, it was Seafood Puffs, with shrimp, scallops, mascarpone, sun dried tomatoes and basil from my garden:
Garnished with fresh tomatoes, kalamatas and more basil.
Came out purdy guuud for a first try!
Happy, happy birthday, Ralph. The world’s a better place because of you. (To say nothing of the Internet.)
Kind words from a big heart – thanks!
Happy Birthday! Ditto to what Jen said. This lovely repast looks positively scrumptious! May you have many, many more birthdays, Ralph. The world could do with more people such as you. š
Happy day! And a well-deserved gorgeous meal.
Coincidentally, I just bought my first phyllo dough. (Organic, was in the freezer section at the food co-op and not too pricey.) I figured at my age (not a birthday time of year, just mid-fifties and scouting for interesting food) I should make something with it and it would also be good to have around in the freezer in case of company. Thanks for inspiring me.
The apples are in season now, you think I can make something with that dough, maybe with very thin apple slices?
Apples and nuts and honey and filo, perhaps? I don’t think one could make anything good along those lines. š
Oh, lord. Try that with lobster some time? I’ll buy the lobster! But anything with shrimp is ok with me, too. Even just shrimp, right out of the net, still wigglin’. š
looks grand, except it’s fish.
hummmmm, stuffed with chinken, now i could go for that.
happy happy! ; )
Ooh yeah, that would make it strudel except made with Greek style dough! And I just got some walnuts. I’ll keep you posted. š
Happy birthday again.
