We had a guest in town this week. Elizabeth Warren, candidate for Senate in Massachusetts, visited The West End Pub in Buckland as part of her Western Massachusetts campaign.

She was enthusiastically greeted by a relatively large group of people in this usually uncluttered town. That’s her in the red jacket in the middle of this crowd:

She was an attentive listener:

…and seemed to care about engaging with people:

She talked a little more formally about the things she believes in and plans to work for:

I wasn’t an unbiased observer, but rather was fully on board with her appraisal of problems and prescriptions for solutions.

I knew I wasn’t alone in liking this as Pip wagged his tail in appreciation:

Thanks to Ms. Warren for noticing that we exist out here in Western Massachusetts.

Haven’t seen a hair of Senator Brown…

Here are a few shots from my recent wanderings, wherein I reveled in our newly-bestowed winter.

A Buckland barn viewed through a screen of thickly falling snow:

This pair of uncharacteristically-colored silos always makes me smile, paired as they are with the adjacent Family Plot.

As the snow thinned, I got this shot of barn doors wearing their Winter Whites a ways farther up the hill:

This, by the way, is very near where the snow-covered piano sits out under a tree.

And later on in Upper Hawley (on a road which is wisely much  less traveled,) a simple shot of a winter scene with the skies clearing just in time to not produce a sunset shot worth sharing:

Prudence should have turned me back, but the way forward was mostly downhill, so it couldn’t get that bad, right?

Right???

I love it when there are no power lines or guard rails, and just enough of a track to assure me that I’m not the Last Living Fool in the world.

😉

A bridge over Clesson Brook in Buckland stands warped by barely imaginable forces and divorced from the road leading to and from it:

The starkness of this tableau suggested a rendering in black & white, so that’s what I did.  Elliot honed in on the warped plane of the parapet wall.

Thanks, kid.
