…in May!
Hey, I just want to throw out some random shots and thoughts before moving into May proper.
Here’s a working farm in Colrain:
…and a Gentleman’s Farm up in Rowe:
I’m fascinated by old barns (in case you haven’t noticed) and their simple functionality – like the obvious solution to the age-old problem of how to get stuff up into the third floor of the big ones, like this one n Ashfield:
That’s two stories of rough stone work – a nice project for an autumn weekend! 😉
Here’s one more farm scene, sadly typical of the old farms around here:
When the money’s short and your handy, not much gets thrown away – it’s amazing what gets reused/recycled on these old farms!
And lastly, here’s a spring (with excellent water, by the way) which didn’t survive this past winter’s unusually harsh weather:
I hate it when that happens.
So it’s onward into May, the month of flowers and morels and the bright green of new leaves!

After a premature Spring with temps pushing 90, this:
Snow in the high country, several inches. Northern Vermont got two feet, so I guess we should count ourselves as lucky.
Mount Greylock got a good coating:
…and Monroe got its share:
Strange, after such a warm early April. Flowers and flowering trees might take a beating from this, regardless of its transience.
We’ll see, I guess.
