… of a Sow’s Ear and a Pope’s Nose –
…seems like it ought to suggest some sort of Cosmic Truism, but for some reason I find myself uncharacteristically at a loss.
As an aside, my tags will show that I’ll stoop to any depth to troll for hits. 😉
Sow’s ear and pope’s nose, dinner for my MIL when times where tight and her kids had to be fed. MIL was born a Cummington gal, daughter of Ruth and Art Giles, raised on not much money, lots of love, and boarding school in ‘hamp back in the day.
Laurie, I don’t know what “sow’s ear” is in the food realm, though “Pope’s nose” is a food reference.
As for your MIL, sounds like there’s a memoir/historical novel in that!
This hit comes from the Reader Appreciation Award via Guy Penn. I love your lines of crops going into distance, and the Transit pictures: over here, the cloud cover obscured the sunrise on the last fifty minutes of the transit. Congratulations on your effort as well as the happy accidents. I try to get good search terms, but “John Martin” which I did not anticipate is one of my best.
Clare, welcome, and thanks for commenting. And thanks for your kind appraisal of my photographic efforts; I work hard at it, and occasionally it shows. 😉
I’ve been loosely associated with Guy Penn in another of his incarnations; he’s an amazingly talented “guy!”
I left a comment over at your place and bobbled it badly, calling you “Chris” – sorry about that.
In my own comments on my own blog, I have the ability to edit to improve them if I think fit. I am very happy to delete the second and replace Chris with Clare if you like.
Thanks, Clare, please do. I routinely fix typos here for regular commenters, unless someone is being a jerk (which happens occasionally if I get political, in which case I let them make their own bed.)
