…down in Hadley, where the recent storms amounted to lots of rain and localized flooding, nothing particularly destructive. I needed to get down there to run some errands and snapped off a few shots with Elliot and the 5D. Here they are.
A pasture expecting rain:
Barns awaiting the harvest:
…and a great oak supervising the ripening of corn:
The current unsettled weather spells trouble for the rain-soaked flood regions north and west of here, but will be entirely survivable in the lower Connecticut river valley.
And it makes for interesting photos, so here they are, courtesy of Elliot.
Checking in on you to see how things are faring. Glad to see you are carrying on through the losses of the heart. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you or your community that will help ease the pain and grief. In my thoughts …
Best,

Here in the lower Valley life is ok. Some fields were flooded with sewage laden water, not sure what that means for the farms and farm shares in the next few years. Lots of sewerage crap (really) and lots of old debris, lead paint, farm and commercial oil products, pesticide sheds flooded, electrical pole transformer units munted, cemetaries flooded and loosing up caskets, and all of it floated downstream. We not only have to rebuild the roads and bridges but also to remediate farm lands and organic farms, and wait for years for the Hadley loam topsoil to recover. Life is just big cycle, we had the farmlands we had by the same cycle. Here we go again.
I like your blog and your vivid photos. Please keep on posting. Sami from Algeria.
Sami, Welcome! I’ll never figure out how someone in Algeria finds a blog about photos of the New England landscape, but I’m pleased that you did. 🙂
Thanks for the kind words. You’ve stumbled upon me during a period of scant posting due to the recent flooding here and the interruption of the flowing beauty of my home place, but In Sh’Allah, I hope to get back to more regular posting as things dry out.
By the way, I visited your site and loved your writing!
