While tourists flock to The Berkshires to see “the Colors” in September and October, we locals get to enjoy a subtler “foliage season” in the Spring, uncrowded by swivelheads.
The steeple of a church in Shelburne rises above the buds, catkins and nascent leaves of our mixed-hardwood countryside:
This time of year, with its unsettled weather, seems somehow more appropriate to the character of “traditional” New England than the Disney-esque rainbows of Autumn.
Enjoy it while it lasts.

I live in Swamp’land, love the photos you share. I know some, but you get around more. A cousin served this church some many moons ago. I live 1/4 mile from my grandmother’s grandfathers’ farm.
I did get out and about and lived away. We each have to do that to know why we’ve got to come back home. It’s a short ride from here to big city lights. The ride back to here is so much longer and hard fought for.
I’ve got muck land in my bones. So happy that you take pictures and love it all.
The subtle shades of green set off the little church to perfection. I love your pov 🙂
