Some Summer Flowers. June 22, 2008

Here are a few shots from the week just past.

What passes for “Indian Paintbrush” in these parts:

The out-West version is a totally different plant, and at least as beautiful.

A mountain laurel blossom in Plainfield:

These little blossoms, growing in clusters, are each little jewels, painted with a sort of peasant-blouse simplicity and happy detailing. Very proletariat.

And a rose in the salt flats at Harkness MSP in Connecticut:

That is all.

Welcome back. Nice to see your photos again.

The “Indian paintbrush” reminds me of chicory blossoms only red-orange instead of pale blue.

Astute, my friend – the petals are very similar, if one gets down into it (which you obviously have! :) ) Parallel-sided with a square, serrated end.

There now, that wasn’t so hard, was it?

Beautiful. And I love the peasant blouse description for that flower.

So pretty. That orange in the Indian Paintbrush is extraordinary.

Thank you. Glad you’re back.

Peace,
Gina

Yes, the peasant blouse description was apt and charming. And I do pay attention to flowers and leaves and rocks and stuff, not unlike a certain CR.
